Energy and intelligence, designed together

Geothermal power.
Dedicated AI compute.

A stronger foundation for AI starts with the energy behind it. Lightwave is developing an integrated campus that brings firm geothermal generation and dedicated computing infrastructure together in one place.

Power and cooling infrastructure illustrating the connection between energy and computing
The Lightwave approach: plan the energy supply and the computing campus as one system.

Start with the foundation

AI needs more than a place to plug in.

Power, cooling, connectivity, and security determine what a computing campus can deliver. Adding more processors only creates value when the infrastructure around them can support sustained operation.

Lightwave starts with the power resource, then plans the campus around it. The goal is to align generation, electrical systems, cooling, and compute capacity from the beginning, rather than treating energy as a separate problem to solve later.

Geothermal, explained

Deep heat. A steady source of power.

Geothermal generation draws on heat beneath the earth’s surface. Unlike sunlight or wind, that heat is available through the day and night, making geothermal a strong fit for computing that runs continuously.

Enhanced geothermal systems create or improve pathways for fluid to move through hot rock. The heated fluid carries energy to the surface, where a power plant converts that heat into electricity.

THE RESOURCE

Access the heat

Wells reach a suitable underground resource. Geology, temperature, and reservoir performance shape the project design.

THE CONVERSION

Generate electricity

Surface equipment converts recovered heat into electrical power. Engineering and operating plans support reliable delivery.

THE CONNECTION

Power the campus

Generation and computing are planned together, with an electrical connection designed around the campus load.

Behind the meter

Bring the compute
to the power.

Behind the meter means generation serves the site through a direct electrical arrangement on the customer side of the utility meter.

For Lightwave, the aim is to coordinate the power plant and AI campus as a single development. This can reduce reliance on a new utility supply connection as the sole path to capacity, while allowing power and compute to grow in coordinated phases.

The final electrical design, any grid connection, and development schedule depend on engineering, permits, and site requirements.

One campus. Connected decisions.

Designed as a system.

Generation

A geothermal resource evaluated for the needs of the campus.

Electrical delivery

Power distribution planned alongside the computing load.

Cooling

Thermal management and water use considered from the outset.

Connectivity

Fiber infrastructure to move data between the campus and its users.

Dedicated AI compute

Purpose built for sustained workloads.

Dedicated compute means capacity planned around the requirements of its users. Training models, running inference, and processing complex datasets can place very different demands on power, networking, storage, and cooling.

Lightwave’s development approach is to bring those requirements into the infrastructure plan early. Partners can help define the capacity, deployment phases, and operating needs that matter to their workloads.

Our vision combines a secured U.S. campus with domestic operation and fiber connectivity. The power stays close to the work. Data connects that work to the organizations that need it.

Questions worth asking

Understand the approach.

Why pair geothermal with AI computing?

Geothermal can provide steady generation, while AI facilities need dependable power for sustained operation. Planning them together connects the energy resource with the demand it is intended to serve.

Does behind the meter mean there is no grid connection?

Not necessarily. It describes how generation serves the site. A campus may still have a grid connection, depending on its electrical design and operating requirements.

Is the Lightwave campus operating today?

Lightwave is developing its campus concept. Capacity, equipment, commercial terms, and delivery milestones will be defined as resource evaluation, engineering, permitting, and partner commitments progress.

Who is this model designed for?

AI and cloud developers, enterprise users, public sector organizations, and energy or infrastructure partners looking to help shape a dedicated computing campus.
